Currently, I am all in with the world of LEGO because my oldest is starting to really enjoy them. I remember when I was a teenager, I’d spend hours playing with them. It really was a very specific order to it. I had to create the thing I bought first. If I loved it enough, like my Star Wars Slave I ship, I’d leave it crafted til someone accidentally breaks it.

Time 2 is an app that can work with your to-do list to help you stay productive.
One of the principles I keep trying to remember is “Parkinson’s law”. It goes “work expands to fill the amount of time allotted to it”. So if you have one hour to do something, it will take one hour. If you have two hours, it will take two hours.
There are limits to this principle, but I’ve found it to generally be true. With that in mind, I’ve tried tricks to help “game” myself to get work done quickly and effectively. With that in mind, Time 2 is a new app that can help you use “Parkinson’s law” to help get through work.

Blogging is a very difficult medium to do effectively. Simply getting your ideas onto a website is not easy. Then you have to make sure you work hard to capture an audience, market well so people see your content, and optimize your blog with SEO so Google clearly sees it and posts it to the top of certain web searches. (This is so important, we dedicated a 1,140 word post to the topic of marketing a blog post as well as a “what next?” after you write your blog article.) One quick way to do this is to have your content featured on other people’s websites.
There are complications with this. It is not your website so the traffic goes to them, not to you. You are at the mercy of any changes after the fact to the webmaster. And Google rewards them in search, not you. But the promise given is “you’ll get exposure.”
Our experience… you don’t… like at all.

I’ve talked a lot on here about the fact that you need to use your social media accounts or lose them. It would be very hypocritical of me if I were to tell you that and then not do it myself. In 2016, I was on Nils Smith’s podcast and stated that it was time for Twitter to end. While this has not happened, the reason I figured Twitter should end continues. So, I’ve decided to delete my Twitter account.
(This is actually part of my New Year’s resolution to say no to more thanks, the Bob Goff experiment.)
A few weeks ago, Mark Zuckerberg announced some major changes to how Facebook’s News Feed is aggregated. We shared an awesome post about how the new Facebook News Feed will affect church Pages on ChurchMag, but each of us have our thoughts and ideas about this change.
Phil’s touched on some of this before, but what about you?
What do you think about this recent change?
Tell us at @ChurchMag using #cmagcast, send us an email [email protected], or submit your thoughts here — we would love to hear from you!
