I’m currently reading the book Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance by Angela Duckworth which talks about how people learn how to “hustle” really well. (I hate the term hustling and from now on, will always use the term grit instead) In the book, she addresses novelty as this idea where we quickly quit something and go try to do something else. Having completed the book, I want to actually call this out a little further and talk about the long-term curse of novelty and how it actually can be very harmful to the Church and how techies, like us, are very susceptible to it.

Pickering and Larran dropped to their knees and covered their ears with their hands. The whole room began to shudder, and both Shelley and his dog seemed to be vibrating from their very core of their bodies outward, while their faces twisted and contorted into the most vile expressions and grimaces that one could imagine.
However horrible this scene was, though, it was thankfully short-lived, for suddenly the machine stopped. The noise stopped. The room stopped. The man and dog stopped. Time itself and the Earth upon her axis seemed to stop as well.

So I spent about an how putting together colors and looking at classic Christmas images of Reindeer that I found on Google Image Search (Best Place For Inspiration). And before I knew it, there it was staring at me on my screen, a pixelated Rudolf the Rednose Reindeer. I added a “Merry Christmas” to the design in an 8bit font.
