‘Visual Theology’ by Tim Challies & Josh Byers [Saturday Morning Review]

‘Visual Theology’ by Tim Challies & Josh Byers [Saturday Morning Review]

June 4, 2016
by Eric Dye

I remember when I first saw some Tim Challies share his visual theology infographics back in 2012.

They were so cool!

Infographics are a lot of fun, but I had never seen them done so well – both visually and content wise – ever before. We shared them on ChurchMag not just once or twice, but three times!

So when I received a cool complimentary copy of an entire book based on this concept, I was ecstatic.

by Jeremy Smith

Whether you are like me and a diehard, or you have read every Avengers comic book, or you are loving the movie but have not fully nerded out, you know about Thanos.

The movies are moving towards a huge collision with this alien and the infinity stones that will go into the infinity gauntlet.

This nifty little infographic will help you identify each of them, when they have appeared in the movies (if that have), and what each of them will do.

Minecraft Devotional #13: Defeating the Dragon [Series]

Minecraft Devotional #13: Defeating the Dragon [Series]

June 3, 2016
by Steven Holt

The End was nothing like I had ever imagined. There were endermen everywhere I looked, and I was scared. I spotted the dragon flying above and immediately started aiming at him with my bow. He was so high above me that I missed with each shot and accidentally looked at an enderman. Great. Now I have a dragon and an enderman trying to attack me.

I ran away and made a shelter to protect me from the endermen. It worked for a while, and then the dragon flew by and destroyed it.

The fight lasted much longer than I imagined it would, but once I was able to destroy the pillars that gave him health, he didn’t stand a chance. One final shot with my bow and he exploded into a glorious shower of experience points. I had conquered the biggest, baddest, scariest monster that Minecraft had to offer.

Evolution of Gaming [Infographic]

Evolution of Gaming [Infographic]

by Jeremy Smith

I’ve owned a lot of gaming systems in my life. My first memory of gaming was in 1990 when I was six, playing with my brother who was three, and “helping him with his turn” on Super Mario Bros. that would last about two hours at a time.

The gaming industry has grown since then. Console boxes have matured (though I’m not sure if they are actually better games). And now we are taking gaming into motion controlled wands with the Wii, sensors from the Xbox 360, and VR.

The infographic below does not cover the last two, but it is a good look at how the industry has evolved up into 2013.

A Church Website Case Study: Your Local Development Environment [Series]

A Church Website Case Study: Your Local Development Environment [Series]

by Chris Wilson

Every now and again a coding horror story pops up on the web. One where someone has one character wrong and so it ends up deleting everything on the system, or takes a whole site down and so on.

It seems so silly until it happens to you one day.

That’s why a local development environment is so important. You don’t want to make a huge mistake and lose everything.
