February is still plenty cold in many parts of the world, so Springtime feels a little bit like a fairy tale of sorts. But the truth is, budding flowers and Easter is going to be here before we know it.
In this week’s Church Tech Snack Pack, we’ve included a few links to help you start thinking about it.
But first, some wise words from Chuck Scoggins about Lent:

Have you ever read the app permissions when installing an app on your smartphone?
The #PrivacyProject asks random people on the street to read these permissions, making for an interesting video.

I build WordPress websites. As a result I’ve dealt with a lot of WordPress themes. I’ve had some great experiences that have made building a site a dream and I’ve had some utterly awful experiences that have resulted in me wanting to tear my own hair out. This is especially painful when you realise you’ve paid for the pleasure.
In an effort to spare others some of the frustrations I have experienced, I want to share my process of how to choose a theme. There are a series of checks I run the theme by to see if it will be up for the job.
This is a list of those checks and questions. I’ve made it in order of what I find important. It may look pretty but if it’s a dog in the backed then you may be creating more work for yourself than needs be.

Regardless if you are creating your own website design or paying someone lots of money to code and design your website, YOU need to be an advocate for yourself and see how your website looks on several platforms.
That means different resolutions from large monitors down to the iPhone 4S. From Internet Explorer on a PC to Chrome on a Mac. It also means looking at it from a fast download speed of 100 MBps to 3G data speeds on a phone.
In the end, the question is, can you navigate well on your site, is anything broken, and is the message you are wanting to communicate getting communicated.

As a parent of a 15-year-old girl and also a parent who I believe is still “hip” with technology today. I try to keep on my toes about what is going on in the world of social media…trying to stay at least in step with what the teenagers are doing.
I stumbled upon this great article from a teenager, though he’s barely a teenager still at 19, he gives some very interesting points of view on the major social networks. I enjoy his article because unlike the typical teenager he is able to get his point across and really allow me as a parent a view into what teens are doing and thinking in regards to social media. He also includes some newer platforms that were new to me!
Here are a few great quotes from his article:
