John Dyer shared a tweet a few days ago that gave me a serious case of the LOLz.
It’s about the new 2015 Macbook that Apple just released.
And while at first glance it seems awesome, upon further review, this video brings up some interesting points while giving you a serious case of the giggles.

Thank you, John.
Thank. You.
If you thought this was funny, I am sure you’ll get a nice little LOL with this, too. 🙂

Apple is kind of strange with their forward thinking products at times, and I think this is just one of those scenarios. Right now only one port seems crazy with the number of dongles a semi-pro might need for their Mac, but Wi-Fi SD cards, wireless printers, network capable portable HDD’s, Cloud based services of all types, AirDrop and Airplay indicate to me that before we realize it all of our accessories / connections will go – wireless. Now they just need to get wireless charging as an option and this kind of device will without a doubt begin to be the norm I think. Either way you can’t escape feeling like the video makes some very realistic concerns for current buyers. I wonder what he was laughing at really…?

That’s one of the greatest things about this meme; the ones that gain traction usually make some veryvalid points. I have a Notebook with only 2 USB ports and do fine for the most part but half my peripherals sit unplugged at my desk until I need them. One USB port has a Logitech unifying receiver in it at all times so that last USB port has turned in to “in an emergency use this” port. They are pushing you more and more in to a “you haveto be in a complete apple ecosystem for this to make sense” world and will be successful because they are providing a simple (albeit expensive) solution for people who don’t want to have to think about their technology. They took a risk years ago and it’s turned out to be very profitable for them.

I tend to agree with you, Sean. Time will tell. Moreover, pro users will use a different solution altogether (just look at this machine’s processing power), or a viable solution will be created for those who need all the ports.

I love this meme. The first time I saw it I thought it was real. It took me seeing more videos like it before I realizes it was another like the hitler movie one.

Same here. 😀
