December 2, 2014
by Jeremy Smith

Yes I have told you that YouTube is the largest video site, second largest search engine, and third most visited site on the Internet.

Hopefully your church has at least considered the idea of utilizing it within a digital ministry.

For those of you who are contemplating this possibility or have already pulled the trigger and begun to develop a video profile online, I have a couple of tips for you in the infographic below. These truly are just tips, you need to create a whole strategy around your online presence, but this will at least help with where you are at for now.

30 Days of Evernote for Churches

December 2, 2014
by Kent Sanders

In the 2010 movie Buried, Ryan Reynolds plays a truck driver living in Iraq. He is caught in a hostile attack and wakes up buried alive in a coffin. While you will hopefully never find yourself buried alive, I’ll bet you can relate to the idea of feeling overwhelmed. We encounter vast amounts of information every day: emails, blog posts, text messages, creative ideas, meeting notes, receipts and invoices, and so much more.

If you’re a church leader, your success is related to your ability to process and find information. Fortunately, the good people at Evernote have given us one of the best organizational tools available today. Evernote can help accelerate your leadership in four specific ways:

Famous Album Covers and the Bigger Picture

December 2, 2014
by Rachel Miedema

While I hesitate to call anything Justin Bieber has created ‘iconic’, his cover for his 2010 album ‘My World’ is pretty famous. Not as famous as say, The Beatles and Abbey Road or Nirvana’s Nevermind, but still.

Which led the British company Aptitude to design a creative spin on famous album covers by revealing ‘the bigger picture’. What happens when you zoom out? They’ve done an amazing job with the above mentioned albums, as well Bruce Springsteen’s Born in the USA for instance, or Michael Jackson’s Off The Wall. And of course, Justin Bieber’s zoom out is pretty funny 🙂

How to Easily Show Hidden Files on Your Mac

December 1, 2014
by Eric Dye

I used Windows for many, many years before I switched to Apple.

One of the first things I had to figure out how to do, was showing hidden system files. Sometimes I need to see them when configuring an app, but usually when I need to find a web development file that is hidden by default.

With Windows, this is fairly easy to do. By opening your Control Panel, you can jump into your Folder Options and toggle back and forth between ‘Show hidden files’ and ‘Don’t show hidden files’ under the View tab.

But for the Mac?

What’s New with iOS 8? [Infographic]

December 1, 2014
by Eric Dye

It feels like every time you turn around a new version of something is being released. And to make matters worse, sometimes apps and devices fail to operate well when they become impossible to update.

When I was stuck on iOS 6, it was frustrating to find common apps—like Evernote—that could not be installed because their were optimized for a newer OS.

It’s starting to feel like our hands are getting forced—into our wallets—more and more often.

Setting this soapbox aside, what exactly is new with iOS 8?

Cyber(man) Monday: Resist the Upgrade

December 1, 2014
by Phil Schneider

The Cybermen might be one of my favorite monsters/villains from Doctor Who. That’s partly because they have such a retro look at the core of their design, and they have been perfectly updated for the new series. Remember when they tried to update the Daleks? The iDaleks? That was not cool.

If you’re a fan boy/girl of the good Doctor then checkout ChurchMag’s TARDIS-themed devotional, Finding Faith Inside the Big Blue Box.

Anyway, here we are on Cyber Monday, the big online-software-electronic-digital buying day of the Christmas season. In case you’re new here, Cyber Monday is the day that most tech and electronic companies—but not Apple!—offer massive discounts and deals on their products. Super cool, right? Except…
