The eBook marketplace is starting to really heat up. It began as a fragmented way for hobbyists and technogeeks to read a book on the go. Then Amazon stepped in and blew everything up with their vision to “have every book ever printed, in any language, all available in under 60 seconds” via their Kindle reader. With books priced at $9.99, consumers went crazy – and so did publishers! Chaos erupted in the marketplace.
That was 2009.
Three years later, the chaos is even more pronounced.
Lawsuits swarm like flies on … well this is a family blog I suppose. 🙂
Just this month, the European Union came to a preliminary settlement against Apple and four other eBook publishers for artificially inflating ebook prices. The fight is long from over, but the results look promising to consumers … and to churches.
