Thanksgiving is only two and a half weeks away and most likely you still have several things to do to make your church service great. Have you considered how you will be using social media over these next 18 days? Maybe you want to do something special with your blog articles? If have not considered it yet, we have an idea for every day between now and Thanksgiving Day. So take these 18 ideas and engage well this holiday season.
- Verses on Thankfulness
Hopefully you have your Bible verses for your Thanksgiving sermon. Take some Instagram photos of the Bible verses through screenshots of the YouVersion Bible app or even traditional a physical Bible. - Behind-the-scenes Thanksgiving Decorations
You most likely have decorations up somewhere in your church, even if it is the church office. Share some of the fun with photos of what is happening at the church before Sunday morning. - Recipe Swap
Spur on a Facebook community for families (maybe even your MOPS group) where your congregation shares their favorite Thanksgiving recipe in a recipe swap. - Pie Eating Contest
Have your youth ministry do a pie eating contest (with no hands obviously), video tape it, and post the video online. - Thankful Video
Make a video where you interview congregation members, young and old, letting them tell you what they are thankful for. Let it be genuine with cute kid answers and tearful responses. - Promote #GivingTuesday
Consider promoting giving to missionaries on Giving Tuesday with several links that your missionary or missions organization supports. Make sure you use the hashtag too. - Stream The Service
We know that your regular crowd may be a bit smaller this year because families are visiting relatives. This is the perfect time to start to stream your service. Need some tips? Click here. - Top Ten Lists
Blog about your top ten lists, whether that is your favorite desserts, Macy’s parades, or what you personally are thankful for. - Thanksgiving Moments
We all have funny or great stories from past Thanksgiving dinners, consider doing a video blog post. - Host A Food Drive
Create a blog post for a food drive and share it on social media. Ask your congregation during your Sunday service to go on your Facebook page right then and share it to all of their friends. - Film Rehearsal of Your Band
Film the rehearsal of your worship band and post a successful song or two online. - Thanksgiving Photo Booth
Consider setting up a photo booth for people to use before and after your service with great props and a photo. Post the best ones online. - Thanksgiving Promo Video
Make a quick 15 second Instagram video to invite people to come to your Thanksgiving sermon. Make sure you highlight how to get more details on your website like directions and service times. - Pinterest To-Dos
Pin some of the best crafts to do for Sunday school, MOPS, youth group, small groups, and other parts of your church to use and make craft time great. - Drive By Service Project
With a bit of preparation and coordination, establish a time and place to have people meet up to rake someones yard for them. - Instagram Scavenger Hunt
Use the social network with the basics of a scavenger hunt, but this time Thanksgiving themed where you are having people “give thanks” to others and then taking a picture of it on Instagram. - Feed the Homeless Facebook Event
Create a feed the homeless Facebook event and have all of the families in your congregation share it or invite their friends to help and serve. Make sure you take pictures and post them online afterwards. - Sign-Up For Gift Wrapping
Have a social media or blog post for people to sign up for shifts to give free gift wrapping on Black Friday outside a predefined store or mall.
