YouVersion has released an offline version of the NLT (New Living Translation) for a limited time for the iPhone and iPod Touch:
The NLT will be available for download for 90 days and will remain there forever (unless you delete the Bible app from your device, heaven forbid).
Again, we want to thank Tyndale House Foundation for their generosity in making the NLT available offline for this time.
Very neat. I will admit that I’m curious why it’s only available for a limited time. What exactly is the purpose of a limited window for download?
Another spiritual mystery.

My guess. Limited because they want to sell it. So they use the limited time as advertising.

that's what i was thinking. make some monies…….!
Chris Marsden says
And why limited to the iPhone/iPod Touch. There is a YouVersion app for Android as well. Why not include Android users?
human3rror says
probably development limitations, among other things. i'm sure it'll come out soon…

Bingo.

I think they're working on it, but that may just be a nasty rumor. π

Ahhh, licensing! My guess. It's like a label allowing TV to play a song for X amount of viewers for X amount of time, and that's what the TV show pays for. No more, no less.
So many people own the darn Bible, you'd be surprised how much licensing work has gone in to YV to make it possible (at least from what I remember working on it ages ago!)
