… just like WordPress 🙂

WordPress does rule for blogs, and sites I need up *fast* – grab some themes, snap snap – done. You expect other answers at *this* site? 😉
For other sites, ones that need more custom data models or unique requirements, I’d like to build them from the ground up. I feel like with WP most of my efforts are removing unneeded stuff.
So, looking at Expression Engine & maybe ProcessWire for some projects.
For bloggish sites though, I think WP will be ruling the roost for a while. Things like WPTouch are too good to pass up.
Eric Dye says
What about sites that has a blog on the side, and it’s less of a focus, what do you think?
Allan W. says
That’s one of my scenarios. I think I’m going to try a small EE2* project and then compare. There’s the cost consideration of course, but I think that’s minor in the scope of our projects. With all the time I spend removing stuff and forcing WP into the form I want, I could be just creating the form I want.
I want to test my assertion first, though. I could be wrong! 🙂
BTW I’ve also bought Standard Theme and will be trying that as well for some stuff. There’s definite “pros” to the WP ecosystem for some projects.
*Built lots of EE1 sites, EE2 is pretty mature now and I’ll try it. Prob. looking at $500 with all the add-ons.
Eric Dye says
EE is awesome. No doubt. The price is an issue, though.
As for Standard, it is pretty amazing. Far different then most themes you tweak. It’s an animal of its own, but once you get into it, you’ll love it!

We’ve just started a new blog at work called living the dream but it will hopefully take over our old site.
The old site is : http://youth.tearfund.org running on microsoft CMS…yup, you read that right!
The new blog is: http://www.tearfund.org/livingthedream
We hope that we can just dump the main youth site and let the blog take over!
Again i say – I LOVE WORDPRESS!
