I'm thinking orange these days because too often, in my life, I'm content with the dis-content I see. Too often, I settle for whatever is un-settling. Too often, I bare witness to that which is not worth mentioning. And too often, I live as if life has come and gone.

And I'm tired, disgusted, fed up, and hungry for more of Him and less of me...

I'm thinking orange because I can get free coffee from ING on Fridays if I wear an orange shirt.
I'm also thinking orange because I see #orangeconf as a hashtag everyday on twitter.

I am thinking orange because I need to think different than I have been. I have been planting a church in the southwest ohio style, and I need to change it. I need help. I need orange.

Our family is planting a church this year. We have 4 young kids of our own. This is a challenging season. One of the moms on our plant team introduced us to the Orange concept for our church. She spent the better part of this year (and some months last year) convincing our plant team that Orange was the way to go. She found some funding. Organized our trip to this year's Orange conference. Got 7 people, from our plant team, to sign up to go. Booked the hotels. Got us a free vehicle for travel to Orange. And yesterday called me (the lead pastor) to tell me she has the flu and they told her not to travel. They are testing to see if it's more than the flu (with the Swine flu as a possibility). She is so bummed. The team is now leaving without her. She's our rock. She's "orange" to the core and has energized our plant team to look, feel, taste, see and plan in orange. That's why, today, we are thinking orange...because of Christine Allen.

My wife; Kathy, would live this book - she would love to go to the conference. Kathy heads up KIDstuf here in Cape Town and teaching children is her passion. Maybe I should buy this book for her birthday - better that it was autographed tho. but alas neither of us is going, pity ...
