Windows Phone 7 has reached 10,000 apps quicker than Android or iOS.

Not too shabby.

Microsoft says they are more focused on quality over quantity, so that 10,000 app number doesn’t include wallpaper apps.

Windows Phone 7 developers are finding Microsoft’s smartphone platform to be a profitable one. Over 65% of Windows Phone 7 apps are paid while 1,100 of them are using Microsoft’s built-in Advertising Ad Control platform.

They have also put together certification teams that work directly with app developers to ensure certification as quick as possible. Currently, the certificaiton process takes an average of 1.8 days with nearly two thirds of the purposed apps are certified on their first attempt!

Microsoft seems to be on the right track, with Windows Phone 7 owners downloading an average of 12 applications per month! Not bad for a smartphone that still isn’t flying off the shelf.
