As I post this my iPhone is currently downloading 215 megs of sheer awesomeness: Final Fantasy I and Final Fantasy II for the iPhone and iPod Touch.
Now, before you complain to the Senior Editor at 8BIT about how this particular post is out of character or not “fitting” to reside on such an esteemed blogging property, please note that I am, in fact, the Chief Editor (so the Senior Editor reports to me) and I get to post whatever I want.
Puahahahahahaha!
… Ok, ready for some real thoughts?
Learning from Video Games

The Church can learn a thing or two about engaging an online world simply by observing the success of a number of video game franchises.
We’ve written more than a few times about video games and how we could learn a thing or two from them. In fact, I once wrote about how “Everything I Learned About Discipline Came from Super Street Fighter“!
Online engagement is rich and the narratives that are created are powerful; no wonder it’s a billion-dollar a year industry!
Compelling challenges, quests, story, characters, and community are all a part of the experience, and now we get to carry around it in our pockets.
Amazing.

So, all that to say, video games are awesome, and we can learn a lot from them.
Do you agree?

I agree that there is only so much I can do to control you and your posting compulsions. That… and I probably would have published this post myself if you hadn’t beat me to the punch. Or lightning bolt. Or what-have-you.

Most definitely – to both video games being awesome and having a lot to learn from them.
