(I read the rules, but couldn't bring myself to post on my blog about my blog. Sorry.)

I started blogging in May '06 for two reasons. (1) A lot of my friends moved away, to places all over the country, almost at the same time. It started as a way to keep everyone updated without having the same conversation a dozen times. (2) Pride, probably, if I'm really honest with myself. People complimented my writing one time too many, and I harbor the idea that I have something valuable to say – which may or may not be true.

    rule-breaker.

reason #1 i hear a lot… and that's a good thing. tech can make our lives easier with communication. period. that's awesome.

reason #2 I do NOT hear a lot… but it's always the pink elephant in the room type deal. thanks for being honest and saying what the majority of us can't seem to man up and say ourselves.

I also started about 7 months ago, my motivation was to interact and share with other people interested in the same stuff as me; Church Media (esp editing, compositing, camera work, etc). We had just started our own Green Screen stuf and I wanted to share the learning experience, after that it progressed into what it is today – a reflection of my work for Jesus.

I started blogging right at a year ago (Dec '07).
    My main motivation was twofold:
    1) I needed to start writing to try to exercise my skills. I've never been great at communicating in written form and this was a safe (i.e., not affecting my job) way to practice.
    2) I was very interested in getting involved in the online community that I saw growing out of the IT sector and into other areas (like ministry).

I'm not the best writer or the most consistent blogger, but I've gotten further along towards my motivations in the past year.

    Thanks for the post John.

Started blogging in August of 2006 (my first post was regarding Last.fm) but not consistently. Posted here and there sporadically until I finally started doing it with real consistency in January of 2008. So really I've been doing it for just one year now.

As to why… I'm actually in the process of writing a post on that. I'll shoot you a link once complete.

My first post I have record of was about a fun video I had found.

I began blogging because I felt there were some observations I made that my friends would find amusing/interesting, so I wanted to document them.

My first blog post was this year. What it was exactly I don't know, but it was my first one.
