How is web technology saving you money?
On a personal level.. Mint helps me keep an eye on my budget.
On a business level.. Freshbooks, moving my clients to electronic invoicing and online payments have saved me a ton of time on invoicing as well as material costs of printer ink, paper and stamps.
cool. you still using @lightvox as your handle in email and address?
I am still working through all the changes.
true. true.
Web technology is saving me money, because there are a lot of open source applications that are free. Otherwise I would have to buy tons of stuff in which I probably won't be around.
ummm, I save on stamps?
Nope I aint (yes I reckon I said aint, lol) actually benefiting, only using web-tech 4 my self,
maybe when I get to distribute a short film thru vimeo, youtube, etc then I will save money.
Ok I know I'm beating a dead horse with the WordPress plugs, but check this out:
http://sites.capitalchristian.com/npc/
The site isn't live yet because we're figuring out what content to put in place, but the story goes down like this:
Senior Pastor: Marcus, I want to build a resource site for all of the Pastors and Sponsors in our National Prayer Center network. I'd like password protected areas, but also a public place where I can blog and provide ongoing information and strategy. And I need it this week.
Me: Ok – let me do some research on how to get that done (thought bubble: "We have no money and our current NPC site is in .asp, which I have no clue how to manage, let alone redesign cause I'm a video/design guy… not a web designer – but I know how to get things done in WordPress… so I'll see what I can do with that…)
Later that week I presented the site at the link above and my Senior Pastor was amazed. I used a template from a pro pack that we bought last year from ithemes.com and modified it to suit what we are trying to do.
Now… if we only had content
BTW check out my spot today http://www.marcushackler.comfor a rad live production video that another church did (and that we're going to steal) and also my Senior Pastor's blog http://www.kenwilde.com.
Dude. see, that's what it's all about. you rock. thanks for sharing that!
