Interesting findings from Nielsen: Funny ads always work, no matter the economic climate.
In times of recession however, emotional and value-focused ads scored significantly better than usual.
And just to confirm what everyone already knew but what advertising agencies apparently still haven’t figured out: ads based on promoting stuff with features, prices, etc, never work, no matter what the economy looks like.
If you haven’t heard, Facebook recently announced that they will start displaying ads from their ad network on social gaming site Zynga.com. It has created a fair amount of buzz with tech pundits due to the implications this move carries.
From a consumer perspective, seeing Facebook ads on Zynga is not a pleasant experience. Most people see ads as a necessary evil and the fewer we see the better. We want our Internet experiences to be a cheap as possible (ideally, free), but we don’t like seeing ads clutter up our favorite webpages.
However, from a church leadership perspective, a move like this is a good … very good … thing!

From the very beginning, Google had a policy that was suppose to define how they did business, interacted with their customers, and treated their employees: Do Not Be Evil. This concept soon became a wild fire concept to continue to use for many online start ups.
One of the biggest online companies that is making nearly $50 billion dollars does not subscribe to this same model. They were established because of a tax loop hole, seeking EVERY single possible way of saving money, and it would seem that their bottom line is to earn the almighty dollar.

However professional you might be, it isn’t just your ability to write or the right attitude that will bring in the money, it is also how you project yourself as a writer that will.
You could keep writing marvelous pieces and ‘sending’ endlessly.
Result: A hit sometimes, but most times a miss.
