There’s nothing that shows the progress of technology than vintage computer ads. We’ve showed you ads form the 1940s and 1950s, today, we’re going to look at the 1960s.
One thing I noticed about these ads in comparison to the 40s and 50s, is the ads from the 60s seem more familiar. Meaning, they seem more like computers.
Some of these will surprise you, while others will just make you laugh.

- And we’re still talking about reducing paper use (printing emails).

- What? Check out that keyboard!

- That’s a desk sized computer?

- Powerful computing for how much?

- How do you like them designs?

- What do you think about this monthly plan?

- Imagine having to wait six months for your computer to be “setup?”

- The blogging machine of the 60′s.

- Compare this to a Mac Air without figuring inflation!

- General purpose computer for $8,500 (or $61,000 today)

One of the stories of old computers that I *LOVE* is the Story of Mel the Programmer[0]. It’s a true story too[1]. The computer that Mel worked on was a LGP-30[2].

Very cool.
I don’t go that far back but my parents did buy me a commodore 64!
We’ll be pulling ads from that era pretty soon!
