Video Tip: Special Effects Using a Tripod

Ever wish you had super powers?

Always thought floating in midair would be cool?  Us too.

Unfortunately, we can’t help you do any of that in real life, but you can do it using a only a tripod, camera, and After Effects.

This is one for the “backpocket” file (like the hologram & beatboxing tutorials).   When you’re in a creative crunch and “flying” or “cloning yourself” is the answer?… we know you’ll look us up.
;)

There’s a ton of applications for a still shot and a masked line of separation:

  • Cloning
  • “Moving” Inanimate Objects
  • Side-by-Side Comparisons (day / night gradients)

Chances are, you’ll think of even cooler things you can do with this effect.  Like the guy who stuffed himself in a box. Or got hit by a car.

What about you? Do you use these effects for any of your projects?  Did you think of anything cool you can do that wasn’t mentioned here?  Leave a comment below.
