We’re in a time when sending large files to people via email is not uncommon. However, doing so has created bandwidth issues within the workplace. As such, many network administrators clamp down and set a maximum size on emails that can be transmitted.
FTP is an option, but often such larger files are often one time use only and many times you can be dealing with somebody that may not even understand something as easy as FTP.
One of my favorite tools for overcoming such issues is YouSendIt.
YouSendIt is powerful. It’s also free if you’re an occasional user and send files less than 100MB in size.
The interface couldn’t be any easier. Choose an email address, write your subject and then attach the file you want to transmit. Click send and the system uploads your files (securely) to their system. The recipient will receive an email with a link to a secure site allowing them to download the file directly.
That’s it.
They do have paid plans that offer many more options and features including larger files, company branding, tracking and more.
We first mentioned YouSendIt back in 2008 along with some viable alternatives. Check them out!

For my movie website, a TON of the studios use this for screeners, images and trailers.
It is a great service.

I agree. I have found it to be an indispensable resource. I use many times to send a library of images to people.

Binfer is a great option to send large files directly from computer to computer, without uploading to a server. You can send hundreds of files of any size with a simple drag and drop. Binfer will manage the transfers with auto resumes, encryption, notifications etc. Check it out: http://www.binfer.com
