Using Atypical Top Level Domains for Ministry

I just finalized another different top level domain for a personal site (JohnSaddington.com is now John.do) and it came to me that I haven’t seen too many ministries using anything other than .com’s, .net’s, and .org’s, even though there are plenty of awesome domain names still available.

Sure, there’s a bunch of ministries starting to use .tv and such, but what about all of the other funky top levels?

Take a look at the full list by country here.

I mean, domains like “CoolChur.ch” are still available!

Thoughts? I think we’ll see a gradual increase of use over time as people become more used to the different types of [dot]-whatevers.

My only problem is that the ones I want are expensive and/or require you to be a nationalized citizen.

    I’m looking at you, Andorra…

    Nice on john.do

I think people feel nervous that it will be too much to explain.

    domai.nr is an awesome tool!

Our church has a .info – took me a while to get used to when I started working there!

.AG should be a natural for Assemblies of God churches. The domain we advertise is FaithNFM.com, but we also have Faith.AG

All the New Domains hurt my head.

I’ve only dived into a few .co domains thus far
