Use TeamViewer for Simple Remote Access

I am the “IT Guy” for my family and as a result I have to do a lot of tech support for them (and my extended family as well).

I’ve used a number of applications to gain remote access to their computers but I was recently tuned into an app that seriously takes the cake.

Check this one out:

The TeamViewer app is a free service (for personal use) that you can use to instantly connect to other computers.

It even has an iPhone App that is fantastic and I’m already super-impressed with the functionality, and the settings are robust and useful:

I’m going to install this on my family members systems and it’ll make life much easier. Obviously the use of it extends well beyond personal use – I’m sure that businesses and ministries could use this too!

What other Remote Access apps do you love?

Don’t forget that it also has a (free) iPad app. It works perfect, fast and accurate for me. Great piece of software.

I like logmein best. It is what I use for family tech support. But I don’t like how they nickel and dime you. The iPad app is $29. I already pay $400 a year for work account (I won’t when this year is up). But they want $29 for the quick links on the computer.

I think teamview is ok. I have used it for my own computer but I don’t like the login options. You cannot set your own name and it defaults to a random password.

Wow, @human3rror had just turned me on to your site and I am really impressed by the articles you have up already. I try to run a techno video and word blog as well but it’s for the most part, secular. Especially at churchdrop.com which I’ve been reading this morning. It makes me want to put down some stories about tech and how it can help the church as well. Great job!

I really needed this find today as well. So many ppl ask me for tech help. This will come in handy.
    Thanks!

I too have used Teamviewer for the same reason, to help family members. It really is an easy solution even if the family member doesn’t have teamviewer on their computer it’s easy to walk them through how to go to the website and download the plug-in.

I’ve used this a lot for helping others out and, to me, it’s the best. No connectivity issues ever. If the target computer is on with Teamviewer running, you can connect. If you think the iPhone app is nice, check out the new iPad native app. Really sweet.
