We’re undergoing some changes in the back-end of how we manage our properties and one of the changes is that we’re now stopping the sign-up and registration process for each individual blog.
Previously we’ve enabled this feature but as our community has grown we’ve realized that there might be some better and more advantageous alternatives, some of which are based on your suggestions.
Here are our thoughts:
For starters, people have complained since Day #1 that we don’t have a single sign-on process (SSO) and that someone is forced to register individually for each blog.
We feel your pain and it’s definitely a hassle. So, we’re going to look into some solutions for that!
Also, to increase the speed of the sites it’s actually better with our configuration to be a guest and not logged in using your cookies and such to populate comments. Won’t go into details but you’ll actually get a better performance out of the sites if you’re not logged in.

Finally, we’re going to be start a new 8BIT Newsletter that’ll have behind-the-scenes information, updates, and news that won’t be posted to the blogs.
