Top 10 Most Downloaded WordPress Plugins

There are a lot of great and wonderful Plugins for WordPress out there but there’s just something about sheer volume of popularity, right?

I mean, people wouldn’t be downloading them if they weren’t actually good, right?

Here’s a list of the top 10 most downloaded WordPress plugins:

  1. Akismet
  2. All in One SEO Pack
  3. Google XML Sitemaps
  4. Contact Form 7
  5. NextGEN Gallery
  6. WordPress.com Stats
  7. AddToAny: Share/Bookmark/Email Button
  8. Google Analyticator
  9. WP-PageNavi
  10. WPtouch iPhone Theme

    Thanks for turning me on to the WPTouch IPhone Theme plugin, really needed that one. Fantastic list by the way, I think I have almost all of those plugins running on my blog.

    It’s pretty standard for me to use Akismet, All in one SEO and Contact Form 7 on almost any site I design. Hah…I should probably figure out a way to do the second two without a plugin huh? ;) Just so much easier!

    This is an excellent list, John! Thanks…..Quick question, though: if someone is using the Standard Theme, do you still recommend they install the SEO pack? Is that something every blog should install regardless?

      no. we don’t use that plugin with our sites or with standardtheme installs.

    When you say: “our own XML Sitemaps” is that built into standard.theme or is it a separate add-on plug-in you hacked?
