The Uncelebrated Web Guy

You know, I’ve never been interested in getting overt praise or anything like that, but rather being understood and recognized. I think most people can agree with that.

And being a “web guy” it’s been even harder, at times, to feel like the rest of the organization really “gets” what we do (or even cares).

Now, I’ll admit, I’ve had a distinct pleasure (and fortune) to work in businesses that do understand the value that myself and my team bring to the organization but I hear too many stories of that “uncelebrated web guy” doing great things day in and day out without the slightest bit of notice.

Yes, we are a weird bunch and we speak in a language more foreign that Hebrew and our jokes are stupidly-not-funny at times… but we’re human beings first, just like you!

Please, take a moment and give your web guy a hug; give him a Starbucks card or something, let him know that you appreciate his work at keeping the web in check. Don’t let your web guy go uncelebrated.

    Hi John,

Great thinking. But one problem. Not to offend. I think you are not checking your spellings before hitting the "Publish" button. May be I am wrong. Please check… It will definitely help us as readers

Wait a second… everyone reading this blog IS the uncelebrated web guy or girl! Oh well, good advice though. Surely we can all apply to this to other little recognized servants in the congregation as well… like the PowerPoint guy
