Online pornography is as ubiquitous as banner advertisements (and then some). It’s one of the most difficult things to avoid and more and more people, both men and women, are falling prey to it every single day.
Take a look at that infographic above and spend some time in prayer against it. It’s a serious online-plague.
But one of the most fascinating and new facts, if it’s true, is that most porn is view on Sunday…!
Fascinating…
I don’t have any ideas about why that is but it’s just, well, interesting (and sad).

This is such a saddening graphic. On a lighter note, I wrote about this same graphic a couple of hours ago!

Sunday is the most popular day because it provides 2 environmental variables conducive to casual porn usage: boredom and privacy.
1. Sunday is a day off. Boredom.
2. Sunday is the day most Moms/Wives go to church with the young children, leaving the husbands and teen children at home alone. Privacy.

and the converse is true for Thanksgiving and other gatherings.
The family is together and active – the porn addict is either too busy to think about it or he just can;t get away.
sad indeed

So what is the solution? Get rid of our internet service at home? Get rid of cable? Turn Amish? It is difficult to know, but I do know that the choice to rid Porn from our lives has to be a proactive choice and not a reaction. The reaction comes when we see our lives falling apart as a result of porn and the proactive choice tries to stop porn before it destroys our lives.

That is a great word Mitch

maybe
but that prevention is extreme.
how about:
1. just don’t be physically alone when on the internet.
2. install software to keep you safe and partner with someone that you can be accountable.
3. take captive every stray thought
4. and if it has taken you captive, be honest and destroy it by speaking out – the power of pornography is in it’s secrecty
Mitch Ebie says
Yes it is extreme, so is gouge out your eye or cut off your hand if it causes you to sin. I hope that what you suggest works for most people.

Yikes. Those are some scary stats 🙁

Wow. It is interesting to read this, as this past week others have opened random conversations about the topic with me and has been for whatever reason a tug on my heart. It is just interesting how God puts these things together, and reading this article plus seeing the comment left by Matthew saying he also wrote about it. Anyways, I absolutely agree that this is a sad truth. Just thinking about the families and households that are destroyed by such a terrible thing, not to mention how sad it is to know that people actually place so little value on themselves that they would make and be a part of the porn industry. John, I want to take your challenge in making this a focus of my prayers and I want to encourage anyone else that reads this to do the same. It’s hard to comprehend how big of a problem this really is in our society both inside and outside of the church.

dangit…..

That is interesting. Not at work? Not sure why Saturday would not be as big as Sunday.
Filling an absence?
Social media or social networking is bigger than sex (porn) on the web now. It has been for a couple of years.now I believe, 2008?
