The City, a ChMS, announced this past week deeper twitter integration and well as a more advanced alert system for such things as emergency or important notices/events.

Historically you’ve been unable to send status updates to the actual application (although tweets out was possible). Now you can send tweets using the #tc hashtag as long as you’ve linked your account.

And for the new alert system, they’ve created what their calling is an addition to their “trusted channel” where you can rapidly alert your people in crisis situations:

To enable this, we deployed a new feature last night that lets group leaders create posts that override individual email settings and immediately send email to all group participants who haven’t opted out of email notifications in the group. This ensures that everyone receives urgent messages about emergencies in the life of the group.
