Testing GoSquared Live Stats Analytics Service: Underwelming.

The video below is a recent test of the new GoSquared Analytics service and my reaction and experience is “eh.” Neither impressed or underwhelmed. It took a while to start seeing some results and the interface has a lot to be desired.

I constantly thought of Woopra and 10 other great (and free) analytics programs. Sad. I guess I’m just looking for something new! Something exciting! Make me happy! Yadayadayada!

I know I threw this out there a while back, but what are you using these days for your analytics (besides Google)?

Find anything new and exciting recently?

    Hi there John,

We're very sorry to see that you haven't been impressed by GoSquared LiveStats. We've received a lot of feedback on LiveStats 1 and almost all of it has been extremely positive so it's very interesting to hear different.

Woopra is a great tool that lets you see long term trends as well as real-time events. LiveStats was always intended for people that already use services like Google Analytics and wanted a slick and easy to use additional tool to see their traffic in real-time.

We've purposely kept the interface of LiveStats very simple and easy to use so that anyone can pick it up and understand it in a matter of seconds. Perhaps this simplicity can be interpreted as "boring" or "uninventive" but we believe it's the best interface we could build so far.

We are working very hard on LiveStats 2 that will be introducing more detailed views of your traffic stats and further help you understand how people use your Site.

If there's anything in particular you would like to see in LiveStats or anything you think we could do better, please say. We want to build the best product we can.

    Thanks,

    James

I currently use Mint from Shawn Inman. I enjoy it but I am always looking for something more – analytics works fine for what it is also.

yeah. mint does look neat, but haven't committed the 30 bucks…

You're one of few people who can tie in words like "new", "exciting", "happy", & "desired" to the word "analytics"…..and I mean that in a good way. ;)

Signed up and checked it out for a while.
Not that I have very many visitors that I can 'see' reasonable stream. But I can't see how this will be useful past a lucky period of observation – unless you spend an hour staring at the Live Stats.

Hi Phillip, thanks for taking the time to sign up and check it out – we use LiveStats ourselves (obviously) and we genuinely find it useful when kept open on a separate screen or in the background.

It's most useful as shown in the video above when you post a tweet or link on another social site back to your own site. As long as you have enough followers you can quickly see the reactions to tweets you make and see how those people stick around on your site or whether they simply bounce off again.

Also, John I left a comment on here the other day and you replied to it, but it seems to have gone? We're improving the service all the time, so I like to know that others can see the comments I leave as they usually help others out at a later date.

    Thanks.

i'll have to look into that missing comment…
