Sunday Special QA No. 38

It’s that time again…! Sunday’s a good day to take it easy.

I’ve decided that on Sundays I’m not going to do any blogging except for a very simple post series called “The Sunday Special” where you get to ask me anything.

You can ask about me about web technology, WordPress, blogging, what I ate for breakfast… whatever.

I can’t promise that I’ll answer all of your questions, but feel free to answer each other’s questions as well.

I’ll try to answer all the questions throughout the coming week.

Simple enough, right? Go.

First, it seems you're feeling better. If so, that's good news.

Question 1: Now that the http://www.northpointonline.tv ministry has been operating for awhile, have you learned anything that you would do differently, if you were starting to build the campus today.

As you reflect, include all areas of operation: vision casting, objectives & goals, staffing & volunteers, technical infrastructure, marketing, worship experience, interaction with attenders

Question 2: Has anything surprised the team that wasn't expected?

Question 3: Do you see God at work? Example.

Gordon,Wow. This is a little more than a few questions! Did you have something specific in mind in terms of these answers? Are you leading a project?

Ha! Jumped on the "whatever," part.

Yes, several church related projects are developing.

If you'd like to focus on just one area: What ministry & numerical goals did you set? How are you tracking (analytical tools)? How are you doing (specific data, if you can share)? Overall affect on physical church, so far?

We didn't have specific numerical goals when we started out but we had hopes of a constant trend and growth of use in terms of traffic.

We are currently using software off our servers, google analytics, and woopra.

the overall affect has been a positive one as all of our campuses have been sending viewers and contributing to the overall mission of the online campus. it's been obvious at times and then very subtle, the latter being more of our approach.

Can you share any growth trend or demographic numbers? I know you had 7,000 on first night.

During the launch prayer service, Andy & Jeff said the goal was to get viewers into church. Are you continuing that plan? Do you have any numbers on that yet?

I am part of a new church plant in Louisville KY, The Lifesong We have a static web page http://www.thelifesong.org

Now for that question – How would you recommend we establish our presence online? How can we use WordPress?

      Jeremy,

You could consider restructuring and redesigning your church website around wordpress, which could be advantageous for a number of reasons:

      management of data
      well-structured information architecture.
      design
      a blog,
and multiple other add-ons that could provide Social networking integration.

      just to name a few.
