Social media has ushered in a new era of connectivity. We can join any conversation happening anywhere on the planet at anytime we want.
That is crazy if you stop and think about it.
Alexander Graham Bell would lose his marbles if he knew what we’ve done since he invented the telephone. One look at Skype and his beard would burst into flames. If Samuel Morse could witness in an instant the progression from the telegraph to text messages his face would melt off.
Now, stepping back into the present millennium, the Church faces challenges never experienced before in history. Technology has advanced so far and so fast many churches struggle to keep up. They don’t have to be on the leading edge of innovation, but some are missing out on the most crucial component of social media.
Conversation.
Most people walking around breathing air today can operate a mobile device. Both my grandma and my toddler are proof of this. 100s of millions of people are on social media participating in constant conversation about life, sports, politics, faith, food, etc. Odds are people from every church on the globe are online too.
This isn’t a lesson in statistics, but the numbers don’t lie.
Churches cannot afford to ignore the power of social media, the conversations happening about their church (or the lack of conversation), or the potential for reaching their community with the Gospel via social media.
ChurchMag has published over 900 posts on social media. We get it. But you don’t have time to read 900 posts and piece together all the content into coherent best practices.
That’s why we’ve collaborated on a special ebook designed for church leaders. Whether you’re on staff, a volunteer, or just want to make a positive impact for your church online, this is for you.
