Designing graphics for social media has become a regular part of graphic design. When you work on your branding, or in the case of ChurchMag — rebranding — you have to work with a completely different set of dimensions depending on the social media platforms. All the while, these different platforms are known to change their dimensions.
It can get a little crazy; however, there’s a free, Photoshop extension that makes all of this so much easier!
Social Kit – Social Media Templates
Finally, I’ve got myself fully sliced templates for Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and YouTube. It’s always up to date, as it automatically updates when there are any minor or major social media site changes, it’s fast, it’s free, it’s easy.
Here’s what currently comes with the kit:
- Facebook
- Facebook Page
- Facebook App
- Advertising
- Twitter
- Profile & Cover
- Background
- Google+
- Google+ Profile
- Advertising
- YouTube
- Profile & Cover
- Branded Theme
- Advertising
Jump over to the Social Kit website, login and download:
You’ll need to install the extension which can be easily accessed via Photoshop CS5, CS6 or CS CC:
Once it updates the first time, you’ll have access to all the templates:
Here’s the Facebook template:
Google+:
And the others are just as awesome.
Just take a look at the layers and you’ll find everything there. Move the elements around, do what you like, it’s pretty slick.
From now on, this is how I’ll be sizing my social media … media.
Learn more and download the Social Kit — made by source — on the Social Kit website.
Enjoy!

This is an amazing find Eric! I guess my own updated templates either became obsolete… or that much better! lol
P.S. I’m not seeing the “Subscribe to comment replies” button below. ?
Eric Dye says
Sorry, Dustin. It looks like the comment subscription plugin borked and jammed up some mail servers. I’ve got it disabled, right now, and will be moving to Jetpack comments with the new design just around the corner.

Hey Eric, nice find here. Looking forward to using this. Still a novice at Photoshop but any little bit can help bud!
Eric Dye says
Awesome! Yeah, I’m no pro either, and found this to be really helpful. Not only does it make the dimensions easy, but it can also give you an idea of how an image works with the overall page. 😀

Eric,
Wonderful post. Makes me wish I knew how to use Photoshop a bit more. :0)
Thanks,
Greg Smith
Eric Dye says
Maybe this can be your first step towards learning it? 🙂

Hi Eric,
thanks for posting this, but I cannot use the extensions; photoshop crushes everytime I try to open it!
Anyone had the same problem? I really can’t see how to fix it.
Thank you
