Seacoast Church Broadcasts Staff Meetings Live

seacoast

Seacoast Church has decided to broadcast live their staff meetings via LiveStream.com.

Good stuff. My only critique perhaps is that by using the free version I get these 15-30 second advertisements before I get to jump in.

Ugh, I hate commercials (and waiting).

What are your thoughts? Pretty neat? Would you broadcast your staff meetings live?

I like the nod to transperency, but there staff meetings must be different than ours. We use the meetings to speak candidly about things like name-clearing people for ministry teams or personal struggles of church-goers. A good portion of the meeting is "staff-only" and really needs to stay that way. I'm not sure how you'd discuss some of the necessary topics while being as discrete as church members expect you to be in the public arena.

As a Seacoaster, I can tell you that what we broadcast is always the segment of our all staff meeting that is suitable for “all eyes” in hopes of encouraging people on staff at other churches or in leadership. There are several other meetings during the day that are staff only where we can take care of family business. Thanks for the feature!

Something tells me this is not the "Real" staff meeting, considering there are things that need to be talked about sometimes in staff that could potentially hurt people watching.

    HT for transparency though.

I agree with Luke about daily meetings. But I get the impression from the screenshot that it's more of an All Staff kind of deal?

It seems like this could be super valuable for medium size churches to observe, or other staff who are remote.

    Thanks for the nod John.

To reiterate what Steve already said our all-staff day is every campus bringing staff in for all day once a month. The segment that we broadcast live is our senior pastor @gregsurratt sharing what we feel would be very benificial to any church staff to tap into. Our hope is that it can be a very small mini Seacoast conference every month.

John I agree on the ads – they annoyed me today too. We will get off our wallets and upgrade our livestream account!

Hope to see all of you guys the fourth tuesday of every month – in fact if you have topics you would like us to cover or other meeting you would like to be able to spy in on let us hear – shoot me an email at shawnwood@seacoast.org

    Thanks

    Shawn

  1. How Public is Your Leadership? @ The Daily Saint - August 26, 2009

[...] One church is broadcasting their staff meetings online. Now that’s public.  People are using Twitter to broadcast their complaints about their boss.  That’s semi-public.  Folks are posting to Facebook when their car gets stolen.  That’s almost public.  They key is this: find your voice, your niche and your passion, then share it with others.  That is ultimately a core component of leadership.
