Last month, we came up with a list of 50 reasons to want to unfollow someone on Twitter which was a lot of fun to put together. This time, we want to look at 25 reasons I will not follow you on Pinterest.
Because this social media network is a bit new, we assume that you do not have hundreds or thousands of followers, so we are coming at this list from the angle of simply adding people to follow, though many of these are good reasons to unfollow someone as well.
Because of the nature of Pinterest being completely visual, there will be a slant of image related reasons to this list, but we recognize that many of the reasons on the Twitter list could still apply here.
- You only post about food.
- You’re “funny” section is raunchy.
- You never pin anything.
- You only spam us with your blog images.
- You have more than 25 boards and most only have one pin, if any.
- Your images are “meta” to the point that nothing makes sense.
- This account is simply a copy of another account.
- You pin one photo or blog article to eight different boards.
- You re-pin one of my pins into the “Follow _______ back.”
- The description of everyone of your pins is full of spam.
- Your pins are very boring.
- You do not have any pins
- Your board is called “Tech Love” but all you post in their are recipes.
- Your images are low quality.
- You have 14350 Pins… (seriously, too much)
- Your boards are so vague that I am not sure what I am actually following.
- I find myself unfollowing individual boards more than looking at your pins.
- Your last pin was two months ago.
- You only pin pictures of cats. (What is up with the Internet and cats? Sheesh!)
- They end up stealing your blog content without your permission and posting it on Pinterest.
- They are a typical soccer mom user.
- Photos are inappropriate.
- The images they pin are always 10 times longer than they are wide.
- They only post videos.
- You pin the same type of thing over and over again. I can only look at so many recipes for deviled eggs.
What other reasons would you include on this list?

Pinterest is going to need some additional tools. I agree with you on the 14000 pins issue. But won’t we all be there in a couple years. There needs to be some type of setting to make things expire automaticlally.
I am still not sure why I want to follow anyone on Pinterest. I follow friends because they are friends. But otherwise I search for things more than I just rely on things I am interested in to come to me.
I have had a bunch of people start following me lately. But I have only followed a couple back. Mostly I wonder if they are real people. But even those I am pretty sure are real only about 1 in 20 pins has any interest to me.
