I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t take as much care as I should when signing up to these new services as I probably should; I’m much more interested in just getting started in using the service than protecting myself.
Take for example Cheryl Smith who found out she was being used as advertising bait on Facebook for “Hot Singles.” Flattering, perhaps, but she didn’t like it.
Anyone else got a similar story (or care to admit it)?

About taking care of new services on the internet, I have countless usernames littered across the interwebs…I have accounts for things I don't even remember (Geocities anyone??)
gross… geocities is shutting down, btw.
I saw that the other day. it's like shutting down the history museum: "hey kids, this is what websites looked like in 2002"
Yeah it is kinda sad. Geocities was the host of my first few websites. Lots of memories there. At least the internet archive still exists to remind us of the terrible designs of the past.
Well at least I don't have that weird experience. By the way is there a question already whether the facebook connect that I;m suing generates authority points as well?

Not like facebook has a stellar track record when it comes to being ethical in regards to their advertising. The number of ads i've seen displayed on facebook that are very obviously scams is staggering. Making money from ads at the expense of people getting sucked into scams is not cool.
