How would you like to take photo filtered pictures with your iPhone and easily share them without investing all of your energy into Instagram?
Why should Instagram get all the pageviews; moreover, why should they be allowed to whimsically change their ‘terms of use’ and even own your photos?
Whether you see this as a problem or not, this could also be an awesome opportunity to unlock a whole new layer of your creativity.
Here’s how you can make this happen:
Pressgram: It’s on Kickstarter
From the Pressgram about page:
“The premise is simple: I wanted to post filtered photos from my iPhone 5 but without worrying about any privacy or licensing issues. In other words, I wanted complete and total creative control of my images and content (as well as the pageviews).”
Developed by John Saddington of 8BIT, he presents the problem of current social photo networks along with the perfect solution, Pressgram:

But what about the social aspect that services like Instagram offer?
Check this out from the Pressgram Kickstarter page:
“Besides the neat functional differences with the publication to your WordPress blog and all of that awesome creative control, you’ll still have the ability to create your own Pressgram creative social network.”
Pressgram is currently on Kickstarter and is looking to hit a goal of $50,000 before April 15th, 2013. There are multiple backer levels from $1 to to $10,000 with plenty of backing options in between. I love the idea of breaking free from the typical social network model and contributing to your own space.
Imagine publishing your Insta-awesome photos directly to your blog–you could even start a new one! I would love to put together a private photo blog for my family and loved ones. This would be perfect for it!
What awesome stuff would you do with Pressgram?
