Prayer Notebook App

If you’re looking for an iOS app that will help you keep your prayer life organized, take a look at Prayer Notebook app.

The Prayer Notebook app is a well organized, easy to use, and is nicely designed. Who says a prayer app has to be ugly, right?

One of my favorite features is Prayer Mode.

Check it out:

Prayer Notebook

Awesome, right?

I love how all you have to do is rotate your iPod touch, iPhone or iPad to jump into Prayer Mode!

Other features include:

  • Group prayers into categories
  • SMS or email contacts when you have prayed for them
  • Tweet what you are praying for
  • Schedule prayers daily, weekly, or for a specific day
  • Set an alert for prayer requests to remind you to pray
  • Mark prayer requests as answered
  • Password protect your prayers

The Prayer Notebook has done an awesome job of taking the analog process of a prayer journal and intuitively applied it to a digital device.

And you’ve got all the cool extras like password protection, alerts and social media integration. I also like marking prayers as answered. ;-)

Pricing

Prayer Notebook comes in two different flavors:

Prayer Notebook Lite is for those unsure about making a $1.99 purchase, which is a decent price point for such a polished app. The Lite version will limit you to 5 prayers, which is enough for you to give Prayer Notebook a decent try.

You can learn more about Prayer Notebook on the Prayer Notebook website. As always, you can get a copy of both Prayer Notebook and Prayer Notebook Lite from the Apple App Store.

The thing I like most about his app is definitely the ability to mark prayers as being answered. How cool – and easy, which adds to the coolness – is it to look back through prayers that have been answered and be able to praise God for them! I also like the ‘prayer mode’ – this is just all together a very well put together app.

Marking prayers as answered easily. Boom!

  3. July 13, 2012 at #

I love the prayer answered/unanswered sections because it will help me remember to appreciate what God is doing in my life and those that I am praying for. What a great way to end the week, by look back at the prayers.

    • July 13, 2012 at #

I love that idea of looking back through the answered prayers each week to thank God for what he has done.

Hope you continue to enjoy the app.

The thing I like most is the ability to easily let people know your praying for tem via email or social media.

    Great app!!

Very well polished. Usually apps like these are ‘meh’ design wise, but this one look like a quality app.

I could really see our church using something like this for the prayer team. Clean and simple, love it.

    • July 13, 2012 at #

Michael, that sounds like a great idea! Let us know if we can do anything to help make that easier.

      • July 16, 2012 at #

What would be cool is if there was a way to setup groups on the app so when one user updates the prayer list, it automatically pushes it to the other users.

Another idea would be to some how connect to onthecity.org. I am not sure if there is an API for it, but that would be another cool way to manage a prayer list.

Thanks for making such a great app!

        • July 16, 2012 at #

Michael, I think creating groups that can share prayers is a great idea. I wasn’t able to find an API for The City, but that would be a good way to connect the two technologies.

The next big features that we’re thinking about for the app center around sharing prayers.

          • July 16, 2012 at #

That is great! I figured that they wouldn’t have an API, but I wonder if there is some kind of feed that can be outputted… I am going to check on that, and it looks like that is a no go. Oh well.

I love the “reminder” part of the app. As a pastor, many people ask for prayer for a certain thing in their life. With this app, I can set it to remind me to pray for that precise time/date, thus keeping my task list free of “extras”. Looking forward to possibly winning the full version of this app so I can put it to use!

I love that when I’m out and about I can put prayer needs that I encounter in the app and keep it all together. I don’t carry my prayer journal everywhere I go but I do my phone. That’s probably not a good thing but it is a bit impractical to carry my journal to the grocery store.

Anything that helps with prayer and walk with God is good. I know it flys against what people normally do but I think the best godly software should be free for the multitude. Maybe something inside the app can be used to earn money but the program should be free. Just personal opinion. Still love esword by the way. Kind of like that. Some of the bibles you gotta pay for but the initial software is free and oh so useful.

I love being able to keep them with me on my iPhone, keep them organized, and be able to how faithful God has been in answering them.

  11. July 13, 2012 at #

I like that you can set it to remind you, I am notorious for forgetting about prayers after I have said “i’ll pray for you”

  12. July 13, 2012 at #

This is the coolest app! I love it. “Answered – Unanswered-Archived” <—- love that. Sometimes you forget all God has done for you.

I downloaded earlier today. This app is awesome!

  13. July 13, 2012 at #

I like that you can rotate the device to go into prayer mode, where it hinds the stuff that’s not essential.

  14. July 13, 2012 at #

I love this app and it’s reminder features creating a more intentional focus on prayer. The timer in the bottom right hand corner of the prayer screen helps me when I feel like I’ve been praying for half an hour and it’s really been five minutes. The only thing I wish is that you could actually add people to the prayer and if they had the app, it would pop up in their UI. This would be great for community prayer.

John, great idea! We’ll add it to our list of ideas to consider for a future release.

      • July 19, 2012 at #

Our church is having a technology education day this Saturday where we will talk about online tools, apps, etc. I am going to add this one in. Glad I saw this before we held the “summit”.

        • July 19, 2012 at #

Awesome! We’ve got some promo cards with a link to the app that I could send to you if that would be helpful.

        • July 20, 2012 at #

          That’s awesome, John!

I was mulling over a project idea this morning and thought I would toss it to you first since undertaking it on my part would be a huge investment of resources that I currently don’t have.

What about a Prayers for the Unknown(PTFU) section?

Basically the premise is this. Each user is allowed to upload on prayer request to the unknown list. That prayer is given a unique numerical identifier that is also allocated to the submitter. Once they submit one prayer they would be responsible for someone else’s prayer request that had a user id that is different from their own. This would prevent them from receiving their own prayer request. Essentially the person submits the request in the unknown realm solely for the sense of anonymity, but they become responsible for another persons prayer.

Not every user is required to do this obviously. Once the prayer is moved to the answered category or the archived status it would be removed from the PFTU list. Also you might put in a timeout function on a prayer where after a certain amount of time it expires.

        Just some thoughts.

  15. July 13, 2012 at #

Just the ability to easily go back and see history and answered prayers is awesome. I’ve been thinking of getting something like this. Nice to see one featured.

The first thing I like about this app is the polished/professional design. It maintains the standard UI feel but with unique styling that sets it apart. I also like the little timer on the bottom right corner.

  17. July 13, 2012 at #

Wow, this is amazing. Beautiful interface, it archives so you can remember what God has done for you, it’s practical, wow. I’ll gladly give $2 for this!

  18. July 13, 2012 at #

I love that you can turn it to landscape mode and scroll through prayers as you pray!

  19. July 13, 2012 at #

Cos it looks easy enough to use….:D

I love the look and the features. I will definitely be downloading this one.

  21. July 14, 2012 at #

I like the idea of keeping prayers organized in a nice way like this. I think this will lead to praying more, as well as allowing me to be reminded of God’s goodness in answering my prayers.

Lots of good features, but I particularly like the ability to send SMS or email to folks that I have prayed for.

  23. July 15, 2012 at #

I think the greatest thing about this app is that it will remind me to pray and put the prayer requests right in front of me like a to do list. And because we spend so much time looking at our phones, I am more likely to do it as opposed to having them written down in a notebook somewhere.

The UI/UX looks great. Without these an app like this would only have marginal use. Looking forward to getting a more in-depth look.

Any thoughts as to when/if the app will be available for Droid users? After Voskamp’s review I’m anxious to download it.

    • February 13, 2013 at #

      Lisa,

Right now we don’t have any plans for an Android app because we are focusing on finishing the iPad app. Hope you can find something that works for you!
