Slovenian photographer Matej Peljhan isn’t just a creative photographer, he’s also a bit of a hero in my eyes. When he met 12 year old Luka, who suffers from muscular dystrofy, he did something extraordinary.
Luka, like many kids his age, dreams of playing sports, of being active. Only he’s confined to a wheel chair and can’t move anything anymore, except his fingers. So Matej decided to make Luka’s dreams come true and he created this beautiful series of pictures in which Luka did ‘play’, called Le Petit Prince.
Perhaps his compassion came from the fact that Matej himself was severely injured at age 10 when he played with explosive devices he found, left over from the Second World War. It took a long rehabilitation period and several operations to make him function again. No matter the reason, anyone who does something for a suffering kid is a hero in my eyes.
