If you’re a web type person, on the Mac, then you’ve probably come across two great apps – Alfred (your Mac’s personal butler) and Transmit (the bestest FTP app for the Mac).
Now – you can bring them together in perfect harmony for some wonderful FTP goodness!
Mac nerd David Ferguson (his term) has written a great little extension which allows you to search (and open) Transmit Favorites.
You just open Alfred and use “ftp <search term>”! You can download the extension from David’s Tumblr.
This is brilliant and a great little time saver – thanks David!

Guys, I hope you’re not still using FTP. Apart from the fact that FTP is older than most folks reading this post, it is also horribly insecure and terribly designed. Even the guys who wrote Transmit don’t want you to use FTP anymore[0].

Transmit isn’t only FTP, it also supports SFTP and Amazon’s storage. I think many use the abbreviation FTP out of habit, instead of adding the extra “S.” As the article stated, Panic is encouraging users to use SFTP and shy away from FTP. 🙂

Yep! FTP is used out of habit (like I’d use, XP, Vista and W7 instead of Microsoft Windows XP, Microsoft Windows Vista and Microsoft Windows 7…)!
