While the United Methodist Church has declared a moratorium on online church service communion, Liquid Church is embracing online church to the fullest this holiday season,
While the Christmas holiday can bring big numbers to local churches, the same can be said for online attendance. Just as local churches are preparing for an increase in attendance and special services, the same is being done for online church.
This is one reason why Liquid Church will be hosting a communion service online, as they have been streaming over 500 Christmas sermons this year after seeing huge growth since they started back in 2007.
Is your church doing anything special for their online Christmas service?
While many churches may not find themselves with such a robust online presence like Liquid Church, streaming Christmas services can be a wonderful outreach for shut-ins, the lonely, and those simply searching for answers during the holiday season. This time of year can be hard for some, so making your Christmas service available online could make a huge difference to someone.

I love how Liquid Church as really made online church a focus, and while your typical local church may not have the resources to do this at the same caliber, making your Christmas service available online and advertising it throughout the community could be a great way to reach out.
What do you think? Has your church done anything special online during the holiday season?

For Christmas, we are streaming all 9 of our Christmas Eve services today and tomorrow online. We’re also setting up a camera at our physical campus for members to do video shout-outs to their friends and family watching online after the service. We’ve been encouraging our members to send a digital invite to friends and family, regardless of where they live, and coordinate a time to celebrate Christmas together through our Online Campus.
For the last weekend of the year (Jan 28/29), we are doing our services online only. We know that many people will be traveling and volunteers and staff will be worn out from all the services over Christmas, so we recorded a full special service with the whole staff that we’ll broadcast live at our normal weekend services times, but only online. After each of our Christmas services we’re sending people home with a “take home” pack that has instructions for our Online Campus, an activity packet for kids, an offering envelope if they don’t choose to give online, and communion packs. It should be a really fun experience and allow our church to come together no matter where they are, as well as give greater exposure to our growing Online Campus.
