i have always been selective in who i follow. no need to follow everyone; honestly makes no sense to do so.

trying to keep it below 200. i am sure as time goes by, i might need to make necessary adjustments .. but i cannot see myself following more than 500 ever.

You're missing a huge point in the auto-follow which is allowing people to DM. That's been a huge part of my strategy and i've provided huge value to others this way.

In a previous post you mentioned you auto-follow people that follow you (sounds admirable). However I have a feeling this may be where you are having trouble. I am fairly selective on who I follow back. If you don't give, share or provide much of value I don't follow. However if someone engages me and I am not following them there is a very good chance I will follow them. I have found that by being selective my Twitter experience has been amazing and the relationships I am building are genuine and real. (besides how is it even possible to truly connect with over 200 tweeple?)

Tools that use followers/following ratios can be a bit deceptive. They can flag people who are interested in following a lot of people on twitter but not in tweeting themselves or people who are following a high number of tweeters (news services ect) who don't follow anyone back.

Twit Block is very useful, but flags a lot of very useful people, whom I don't in any way consider spammers. I believe it will become more accurate, but people will need to take the time to mark them as not spam. I currently post a score of 0, but just a few days ago it showed me as several hundred, so there are still kinks being worked out.

Socialtoo http://socialtoo.com is another great service to try. You can unfollow everyone with 1 click and block and automattically unfollow spammers. @scobleizer and @loic as famous twitter users who used the service to unfollow everyone

I guess I am not that interesting. I ran the the twitblock.org and came up with a couple that I blocked, but no one had a score above 100, how do you get scores of 5000.
