Did you know there are over 20 different digital giving platforms offering their services to pastors and church leaders? As the Director of Business Development for one of these platforms, I share this detail at my own peril, but I do so to illustrate a point: the digital generosity space is crowded, and getting more crowded each day.
That being the case, it’s not surprising that the #1 question I receive from prospective church partners is “What makes Mogiv different? Why should we choose you over [insert one to five other names]?”
Generally, these questions are followed by a conversation that focuses heavily on comparing feature sets, with an eye toward establishing a true “apples to apples” comparison. While vetting features and understanding functionality are important parts of any purchasing process, I’m going to ignore those things entirely for the remainder of this post.
As proud as I am of Mogiv’s robust list of features, I’ve also seen how easily feature sets can be duplicated. Prices can be undercut. Marketing gimmicks can be rinsed and repeated. So yes, let’s talk about those things, but ultimately, if your church chooses to partner with Mogiv, I want you to do it for a different reason. Specifically: because when we say “partner” we really mean it.
If there is one thing your church does NOT need it’s One. More. Provider. You’ve heard it takes a village to raise a child? Well it apparently takes a mid-sized city to run a church. You’ve got your accounting system, your database software, your presentation software, your scheduling software, and your web-hosting platform. Trying to communicate with your congregation via text or email? Another provider. Trying to do live-streaming on your website? Another provider. Want to provide gluten-free communion bread? That’s probably another provider as well.
And that’s why Mogiv has taken the approach we have with our churches. Because generosity is too important to leave in the hands of a difficult or disinterested vendor. Your church doesn’t need an online giving provider. What you need is a generosity partner who is going to take the time to understand the unique needs and challenges facing your congregation. You need a partner who won’t fall “off the grid” immediately after the contract is signed, but – on the contrary – will walk alongside your team until online and mobile giving become ingrained in the culture of your church.
And that’s what you get with Mogiv – a platform that was created by church leaders, for church leaders. Specifically, this “passion for partnership” has manifested itself in two important ways:
- A pricing model that removes all of the risk for churches. We don’t think you should have to pay for a tool you haven’t tried yet. And we definitely don’t think you should cut us a check each month just to keep us around. Long-term contracts? Forget it! Mogiv doesn’t ask for any of that nonsense. All you pay with Mogiv is a small processing fee when your members actually use our platform to give.Which means it isn’t working for us unless it’s working for you!
- A growing library of tools to take the guesswork out of communication. The fact that we don’t charge monthly fees or lock our customers into long-term contracts puts the pressure squarely on Mogiv to ensure that our tools are actually working at the churches who use them. This is why we have spent 100s of hours building a library of bulletin inserts, web graphics, slides, email templates, videos, and more. Our goal is to provide you with all of the resources you need to not just implement online giving, but to build and develop it into a vital channel for generosity.
I wholeheartedly believe that these two approaches are the “secret sauce” that has continued to drive Mogiv’s growth, even as dozens of new players enter the game.
Lots of companies tout “customer service” as their strong-suit, but at Mogiv, our very survival as a company is dependent on the strength of our service. And we have seen 100s of times over what a difference that makes in the churches we serve.
