New Amazon App Released for Sending Docs to Your Kindle

I love my Kindle, but I hate having to use that twenty foot long cord (or that ridiculous e-mail system) to manually send non-Amazon ebooks and documents to my reader. (Personally, I love using my Kindle when preaching. It’s a pain to have to plug it in every time I want to update my sermon.)

Well, we’re all one step closer to the wireless future we’ve been dreaming about. Amazon has just announced a new Mac/PC app that will send ebooks/files to your Kindle wirelessly.

Hooray!

Cheaper eBooks? Yes, Please!

Sorry, not yet.

But maybe soon.

The US Government sued Apple, accusing the iPad-maker of illegal pricing practices concerning its iBooks store.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t have a degree in anti-trust law, so here’s a cursory explanation of what went down:

A Free, One Stop Solution for E-Book Conversion

If you’ve ever downloaded free ebooks, you’ll often find them in an ePub format. Unfortunately, Kindle doesn’t support ePub files.

So, after a quick search on Google, I found an ebook conversion tool that’s available for Windows, OSX and Linux.

But, did it work?

Library 2.0? [Comic]

For those of you that use an eReader, have you noticed a decrease in the number of real books you purchase or own?

Do you purchase more titles than before you owned an eReader?

Since we acquired an eReader, we went through all of our books, and for those that were available for the Kindle free of charge, we replaced with e-versions. We were shocked with how much bookself space we gained!

After this experience and reading Jon Manna‘s post on “Finding Joy In Books. Again.“, I had to share this!

Beautiful Books

Finding Joy In Books. Again.

Books, as we’ve known them, might be considered a thing of the past by most people. We are living in the digital era of iBooks and ebooks. We place emphasis on rich and interactive media, and control it all with the tip of a finger.

Lately I’m finding it surprisingly refreshing to actually turn back to the traditional books of paper and ink, and I must admit that the following video helped inspire me all the more. Continue Reading…
