Very neat little FireFox AddOn: MeasureIt.

  1. Click the MeasureIt button in the status bar or toolbar to turn it on/off.
  2. Click and drag out a ruler box.
  3. Click and hold to move the ruler box.
  4. Use CTRL + Arrow Keys to nudge ruler by 1 pixel.
  5. Use CTRL + SHIFT + Arrow Keys to nudge ruler by 5 pixels.
  6. Click the “X” to close that ruler or click outside of it to begin drawing another ruler.
  7. Use the ESC key to turn off  MeasureIt.

Word! What other FireFox AddOns are you using for your creative endeavors and web adventures?

I use and love MeasureIt as well. Other Firefox tools I like are ColorZilla and of course Firebug.

Definitely one of my favorite extensions. Simple and does a great job.

Sometimes when I want a quick fix for this on my Mac I’ll use the screenshot keyboard shortcut (Cmd + Shift + 4), which also measures the area which you select.

Yup, love this one. Use it almost every day. I’m also a huge fan of Colorzilla (like everyone else).
