Managing 2 or more Twitter accounts can be a pretty tough job. Finding the time to tweet is probably even harder… and then let’s not even start with attempting to build a community around them…!
Well, at least the first issue can be nipped in the bud with the help of 2 services that I’ve recently discovered: Splitweet.com and TheMattinator.com.

Both allow you to easily manage multiple twitter accounts and be able to send tweets to either one or both of them at the same time. There are also a number of different functionalities that each one provides, so you should probably check both of them out if you need this type of service.
This can be extremely if you have a personal twitter account and/or an organizational/ministry account perhaps, but don’t want to struggle with having to login multiple times and/or use different services.

On a personal note I’ve been struggling with how to manage two: I have a personal one @human3rror and one for this site @churchcrunch. Now don’t get me wrong, I’ve got big plans for the latter account… but it just isn’t “time” yet for those things to occur. At the same time though I’m not building community, if at all on it.
Frustrating.
I’d love to hear people’s thoughts and if they’re busting the dual-accounts…!

Thanks for letting us know about these two solutions providers. I will check them out in the near future. I have struggled with starting a second Twitter account for the same reasons you have discovered. I just don't think I can manage yet another information stream…there just isn't time! But, there is a second reason I have hesitated…
From a marketing perspective, the discussion I would like to have with you (and others) is around identifying the reasons/value for having two or more Twitter accounts. I know that it allows a person to separate ministry and personal social communities, but one of the benefits of Twitter is that it affords an organization an opportunity for "followers" of that ministry/company to connect with the personality of person behind or associated with the ministry. In your case John, you are the person behind ChurchCrunch. Letting people see into your life and ministry at the same time make people see your heart, passion, and life and not just ministry stuff if they only follow @ChurchCrunch. I think of @MichaelHyatt from Thomas Nelson as an example corporately.
What do you and others think about this?
David,
Great points here. and it's something i've struggled with. even though I have plans for the 2nd account, will it be worth it? is it even possible?
still thinking about it and not completely sure my next move.
thanks for weighing in.
Man, I have tried working the two Twitter account deal for a week or two now (one that is more business oriented and a more personal, even though I think most of the time I am so engrossed they can easily be the same thing).
I find it extremely difficult. I ended up running tweetdeck for my biz and thwirl for my personal, but it just got muddled. I have not figured out a good solution so I am stalling out on the personal for now since I have already built up a small community on my original account.
I may have to try and swing one of these apps to see if it helps, but maybe not. A lot of times I feel like I want to write something, but it is not too profound so I skip it. Maybe a case of Qwitterphobia. I should talk to a psychiatrist perhaps.
two twitter accounts sucks. i know. i feel you. but… something i did realize… you should sign up for @churchcrunch if you hate my spammy spam spam… and just want notifications on posts. otherwise, @human3rror does the same thing but with mucho spam.

That is a good point. There are things that I would want to say to friends, but not necessarily a "marketing" community. That community might just find the much more personal posts a little annoying. Hmmm, so much thinking. I think my brain may overload. Woosah, woosah… okay, better.
