Dallas Theological Seminary (DTS) recently explored the last 25 years of digital Bible initiatives and announced a groundbreaking partnership with Logos Bible Software.
Seeing where Bible software started compared to where we are today is fascinating. Using a MS-DOS emulator, John Dyer records a demo of the Interactive Bible Library that was released by DTS in 1989:

“CDWord: The Interactive Bible Library was released in 1989 by Dallas Theological Seminary. This is a demo of the project created using VMWare Fusion on a Mac running Windows 2.1.”
Just look at these screenshots!
Oh, my, we’ve come a long way. I find this promotional flyer pretty cool, tool:
“The most extraordinary Bible study tool in the world.”
Have you ever thought that after looking up a verse on your smartphone? Thankfully, our Church tech pioneers didn’t stop with CDWord.
DTS Partners with Logos Bible Software
Dallas Theological Seminary (DTS) has continues to look forward and leverage technology for the benefit of Bible study. The recent partnership with Logos Bible Software will give every DTS student full access to a package of resources valued over $14,000! Compared to the CDWord of 1989 that could be purchase as a set of CD-ROMS for $595 ($1,120 adjusted), that’s impressive!

Dr. Hall Harris, professor of New Testament Studies and an expert on technology in ministry said:
“Thanks to the internet and online resources, everyone is awash in a sea of information. The facts are now generally easy to find, but the significance of those facts, how they fit together and what they mean, are more elusive.”
With Logos Bible Software available to all DTS students, it’s going to be far less elusive.
