Leave a Comment and Get the I-Love-You Google Juice!

Have you seen our sidebars on all the 8BIT Network sites? We’ve got a “Top Weekly Commenters” spot just for you, our lovely community.

The problem is that some of you haven’t registered for each of the sites and haven’t given us your blog address and/or site URL to give you love back. See those “white” names on the sidebar (no linking)? You guys are missing out!

The Top Weekly Commenters get direct links back to your own sites, and we’ve got a “Do-Follow” tag on all of them (this is the opposite of No-Follow).

What does that mean? What do you need to do?

That essentially means that Google will “establish a relationship” with our properties and you resulting in an increase of your traffic and ranking. Hey, we just want to give a little back.

So, what are you waiting for? Register, comment, enjoy.

[For those interested, we use the highly-configurable Top Commentators WordPress Plugin]

Way to get people to actually click! I usually just sit on RSS, which I guess is what you are aiming to avoid?

Just an odd thought, would there be any possibility to maintain unified login credentials across the 8bit network? You mean if its supposed to be a family of sites? Just saying ;>)

    • February 9, 2010 at #

yeah, we had definitely thoguht about using the same userbase for all sites, but we have some other plans for it… so, it was trumped. ;)

we’ll keep you posted (obviously) on why we did this.

      • February 9, 2010 at #

All fine and good. Any thoughts about allowing Facebook connect &/or Twitter Oath for login now that you don’t have to worry about ID in the mix?

And on a personal note, now that you have launched the 8Bit network and several other sites, Human3rror called me and said that its been missing your TLC.

Sorry about the repeats early on – I though the comments never went thru.

Just a question: Wouldn’t the Google Juice be better by ten fold if the Top commenters were also listed on single/post pages?

  29. February 10, 2010 at #

Maybe its just me, but I still don’t see this plugin?

  30. February 10, 2010 at #

Thanks for the info. I just registered for this blog. Am I supposed to register and comment on the other 2 or 3 blogs in the 8Bit network as well?

  31. February 10, 2010 at #

So you are making it a competition?…I just can’t resist.

  32. February 10, 2010 at #

Okay, so I registered, logged in but then when I tried to leave my profile screen (clicking “return to site”) it still says “Sign in or register” at the top of the page. Did it work?

I’ve never registered on any other WP blogs, so maybe this is my operator error, but either way – I’m a bit lost.

  33. February 10, 2010 at #

Um. So by simply posting this, I get some Google Juice Love.

    Or Google love Juice.

    or love juice?

  34. February 10, 2010 at #

Is that thing only on the homepages?

Also, it’s too bad we have to register separately for each site. Guess there’s really no way around that. I know WP 3.0 is supposed to take some MU functionality although I haven’t looked into it too much…maybe that’ll do the job. Eh, I guess it’s not that big of a deal.

    • February 10, 2010 at #

Ok, this double comment is not just because this is a post on leaving comments. I just felt silly because I hadn’t read all of the other comments but did just now, and I realized that other people already brought those things up.

Look forward to seeing your “other plans” that trumped the shared userbase. ;-)

    • February 10, 2010 at #

yeah. we spent a long time discussing our options on dbase management, separate sites, one dbase, separate dbases, one site, wpmu, etc…

but this is what we landed on. it gives us the most flexibility, and long term, we have site-specific campaigns that we’d like to keep separate.

I was in love, truly, deeply in love….with my ex-boyfriend over 2 years ago…We broke up as it usually happens when you are 18. It was an ugly ending I still loved him..Could not have stayed in Hungary any longer, needed a change.
