Iconspedia – The Social Icon Search Engine

It’s becoming a standard to feature a set of social icons on your website. Granted, some feature only two or three whereas some of us feature fifteen. That’s cool – some of us are more extroverted than others, right? Gotta be social ;) .

Seriously though, free icon sets are easy to find online, but – like with anything new – people often flock to the latest resource and begin using it in a variety of their projects. There’s nothing wrong with that, but you also want your  projects to differentiate themselves a bit.

It’d be pretty sweet if there was a social icon search engine. Oh wait.

Iconspedia is awesome. I dig it.

Prior to discovering it, I’d spend a fair amount of time scouring Google for an attractive icon set that I could use on whatever project I was currently working. Aside from being a time sink, I had a hard time finding icon sets that included all the icons I needed.

Forget that. Now I’ll just create my own sets.

Haha I think I’ve spent about as much time looking for icons that I could’ve just made them myself.

Ha! Exactly. It’s funny how much a set of icons can change the ‘mood’ of a site..
