Huffduffer is an interesting website that’s been around for a while. The basic ideas is you can create your own podcast feed and add audio from over the web to it. This isn’t private and anyone with your Huffduffer RSS feed can then subscribe to it. There are a few obvious applications for this site.
- Creating a feed of one off podcast episodes you’d like to listen to [a way to try out podcasts or listen to one off episodes without having a tidal wave of episodes on your podcast app of choice]
- Creating a feed of curated audio from different sources to share with an audience
- As a method of creating a podcast
I personally use Huffduffer for the first use, and as an individual, you may find that a very attractive option. As for a church or ministry, however, you may find the second option more useful. Imagine creating a podcast for your congregation with select audio from other preachers around the country? It could be a great way to add additional teaching to the sermon from Sunday, alternatively, if you have a few different services or congregations that meet at different times and in different places, you could use Huffduffer to create a roundup feed.
How Huffduffer Works
Hufferduffer is fairly simple to set up for anyone, even someone with little experience or knowledge of web services.
- Go to huffduffer and signup for an account.
- Once you have done that you will have an RSS feed, and you will get a javascript bookmarklet that will let you add some audio to your feed.
- Save this bookmarklet to your bookmarks or favorite on your web browser.
- Go to a webpage with some audio you wish to add to Hufferduffer.
- Click the bookmark for Huffduffer.
- Enter your Huffduffer username and password and click enter.
- Make sure all the details are correct and the URL for the audio is correct and press “enter.”
- Now it is added to your Huffduffer feed.
This is an incredibly simple tool, and could be really useful for you, your church, or ministry, to create an audio feed, especially if you don’t have the time, resources, or know how, to create your own unique podcast or audio feed.

Can you publish to iTunes podcasts with it?
Chris Wilson says
Sorry for the delay in the reply. Huff duffer gives you an RSS feed so there’s no reason (I can see) that you couldn’t publish it to iTunes. You might have some issues adding artwork and a good description though. I’m not sure if you can get round that.

Good points, Chris (you’re so pro). It’s also not very easy to migrate your iTunes feed somewhere else, so you might get it stuck on HuffDuffer, which would be REALLY uncool.
