How-To: Setting up an SMS System

There’s a lot involved with setting up an SMS System and, to be quite honest, I don’t have much experience in this area in the slightest.

Thank goodness for the incredible amount of resources that are readily available to us!

MobileActive has an amazing walk-through on how to begin to setup an SMS System as well as many factors to consider when making the jump.

Anyone have any other great resources that we can list here?

This is a great resource. Thanks for posting, John. For churches looking for a easy and low-cost texting solution, I’m a big fan of TextMarks.com. They provide a whole suite of services. TextMarks is also a key ingredient behind Prayer Bouncebacks.

About 1/2 the people at my church us the Mississippi-based CelluarSouth which most SMS short code services don’t support. This has kept us from using services like http://polleverywhere.com and Tantango.
