I love the idea of several Christian-oriented nerds discussing in a very informal setting tech of some sort that may be beneficial for churches, bloggers, missionaries, and any other kind of ministry out there.
Our next hangout will be June 1st at 10AM EST.
This hangout we talk about what digital discipleship is, what resources are out there, and if is it possible.

During Lent a few of my friends decided to wake up at 6:45 every weekday morning to read and discuss the Moravian Texts. These guys are friends all over the Atlanta area plus one from New Orleans. It was an amazing experience of digital Christ-centered community. After Lent the guys started missing it. Since then we have continued to meet Monday, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Any one who wants to join add me on G+ and I will connect you.
I think one of the keys to digital discipleship is a heightened level of consistency. Discipleship needs to have a face-to-face component that has high invitation and high challenge wrapped into it. To do this online the commitment must be regular and take on a more structured approach.
I am a digital media teacher and one of the questions I am trying to work out is how do we diminish the very present yet ambiguous distance technology creates in our relationships and ethical decisions. The gapping whole between real life and our digital one muds the water for decision-making and ‘real’ experiences. I can see the church leveraging things like Google Hangouts in the right circumstances to affirm the eschatological impact technology can have on spiritual and personal formation. The church can intersect technological advancement to provide a genesis for rethinking ethics in the digital world.

I thought the discussion was enlightening. I am currently a seminary student at Regent Universary and I am taking a class on digital discipleship. Also could you recommend some ministry websites who are doing successful interactive digital discipleship. I look forward to your next segment. I also pastor a church and I am also interested in incorporating this as part of our mission and evangelism outreach.
God bless,
Wayn
