Introducing: Google Currents – Mobile Digital Magazines

As mobile devices become even more integral hubs, it’s not enough to just provide content; presentation is just as important.

We’ve all had some time to play with Google Currents, and if it does one thing well, it makes your favorite feeds look GOOD. Currents is a digital magazine that aggregates available feeds into one app with a tidy, effective UI.

It is similar (almost, kinda) to iPad app Flipboard. Where Google Currents excels (for Android users, at least) is how well it integrates with the system. It can be linked to ones Google account, which allows it to be used on any number of portable devices. It is fairly easy to add your own site too. I had it up and running fairly quickly for my blog.

Currents also has the advantage of being cross-platform across iOS and Android.

Have you tried Google Currents?

[Editor's Note: You can find ChurchMag on Google Currents, here.]

I was looking forward to this and tried it the day it released (I was one who was sad at all the Google Reader changes, hoping this would be the NEW Google Reader)… well, it is not available on my Kindle Fire, and it didn’t work on my Android phone very good, many pictures showed up with X’s on them and I coudn’t integrate my Google Reader. Fail Fail Fail. Hopefully it will get better cause the times when it did work it was very nice.

Yeah, talk about Market Fragmentation. I wonder why it isn’t available in the Amazon Market.

I was able to get my blog on there, and I do get the major blogs pretty well (including Church Mag), but they need to ensure it works on every major tablet, IMHO,
